5:00 a.m. – Early Morning Pick-Up and Train Ride
You’ll be picked up early from your hotel in Cusco and transferred to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Enjoy a scenic train ride through the Sacred Valley, surrounded by towering mountains and lush greenery. Arrive at the trailhead at Km 104, the starting point of the one-day trek.
Begin your hike at Chachabamba, an ancient Incan archaeological site. From here, you’ll follow a well-preserved path through stunning landscapes, including cloud forests, rivers, and breathtaking views of the Andes.
After a couple of hours of hiking, reach Wiñay Wayna, a magnificent Inca site with terraced ruins and panoramic views. Take time to explore this mystical site, where your guide will share fascinating insights into its history and importance.
12:00 p.m. – Lunch Break at Wiñay Wayna
Enjoy a packed lunch with the incredible backdrop of the Andes mountains and the Wiñay Wayna ruins. Recharge for the final part of the trek to Machu Picchu.
Continue your hike towards Inti Punku, the Sun Gate, the gateway to Machu Picchu. As you approach, you’ll be rewarded with your first glimpse of the awe-inspiring Lost City of the Incas. This view is one of the most spectacular and rewarding moments of the trek.
Descend from the Sun Gate into the iconic citadel of Machu Picchu. You’ll have time to explore this UNESCO World Heritage site with a guided tour, learning about the fascinating history and significance of the ruins. Marvel at the architecture and soak in the spiritual atmosphere of this ancient wonder.
5:30 p.m. – Bus to Aguas Calientes
After your exploration of Machu Picchu, take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, the small town at the base of the mountain.
7:00 p.m. – Train Ride Back to Cusco
Board the evening train back to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival, a private transfer will take you back to your hotel in Cusco, where you can relax after an unforgettable day on the Inca Trail.
