Day 1: Arrival at Cusco Airport and Transfer In

Upon your arrival, our professional driver will be waiting for you at the arrivals area, holding a sign with your name or company name Inca Town Travel for easy identification. Please look for our representative after collecting your luggage.

The transfer time from the airport to most hotels in Cusco is approximately 20 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

Day 2: Cusco City Tour (Full Day)

• Duration: 8-9 hours

The tour begins in your hotel at Cusco with a short drive up the hill will bring you to Sacsayhuamán, an awe-inspiring Inca fortress. This massive complex offers panoramic views of Cusco and is known for its impressive stone walls, some of which weigh over 100 tons.
Continue to Q’enqo, an ancient ceremonial site. Explore its carved stones, underground tunnels, and amphitheater, which were used for religious rituals and mummification.

Visit Puka Pukara, a military fortress with stunning views of the surrounding valleys. Its red-hued stones and strategic location made it an important defensive site for the Incas. Head to Tambomachay, known for its intricate water channels and fountains. It is believed to have been a ceremonial site dedicated to water and used by Inca nobility for spiritual rituals.

Next, the Mirador de San Cristobal. This scenic viewpoint offers one of the best panoramic views of Cusco. You’ll be able to see the entire city spread out before you, including the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Lunch Break
Take a break for lunch at a local restaurant to enjoy authentic Peruvian cuisine.

After lunch, explore the vibrant San Pedro Market. This bustling marketplace is perfect for experiencing local life, tasting fresh fruits, and shopping for artisanal souvenirs.

Next, visit Qorikancha, the most important temple in the Inca Empire, dedicated to the Sun God. Discover the fusion of Inca stonework and colonial Spanish architecture at this remarkable site.

Continue your journey through the narrow cobblestone streets of Cusco to Hatun Rumiyoc Street, famous for the 12-Angle Stone. This massive stone, perfectly cut with twelve angles, is an iconic example of Inca stonework.

The tour concludes with a visit of the Cathedral of Cusco. Inside the Cathedral, you’ll discover beautiful altars, intricate woodwork, and paintings, including the famous Last Supper with a local twist.

Day 3: Sacred Valley Full-Day with overnight in Urubamba

Your day begins at 7:30 AM with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Sacred Valley, with your guide providing insights into the region’s history, culture, and landscapes.

The first stop is the Mirador of Taray, a viewpoint that offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Sacred Valley. This spot is perfect for photos, as it showcases the vast agricultural terraces, the winding Urubamba River, and the majestic Andean mountains. Your guide will introduce the history and significance of the valley, setting the stage for the day’s exploration.

Next, head to the town of Pisac, famous for its traditional crafts. Here, you’ll visit a local jewelry workshop, where artisans create beautiful pieces using techniques passed down through generations. Day 4: Sacred Valley Full-Day from Urubamba

Begin your day with a pick-up from your hotel in Urubamba at 7:30 AM. From here, embark on a journey through the Sacred Valley, exploring some of the region’s most significant Inca sites and cultural experiences.

Your first stop is the Ollantaytambo Inca site, one of the best-preserved Inca towns and a historical fortress. Walk through the cobblestone streets of this living Inca village and climb the massive terraces of the fortress, where the Incas once defended themselves against Spanish invaders. Your guide will explain the history and importance of Ollantaytambo, both as a strategic military site and as a religious center.

Next, you’ll visit the intriguing Inca agricultural terraces of Moray. This unique circular complex was an agricultural laboratory for the Incas, where they experimented with growing crops at different levels of elevation. Explore the site and learn about how the Incas used these terraces to acclimate crops to various environmental conditions, a testament to their advanced agricultural knowledge.

From Moray, continue to the nearby Salineras de Maras, a stunning landscape of thousands of salt ponds clinging to the mountainside. Day 5: Urubamba – visit Machu Picchu Full-Day

• Start Time: Early Morning in Urubamba
• End Time: Evening (Arrival in Cusco)

Begin your journey with a pick-up from your hotel in Urubamba. You’ll transfer to the Ollantaytambo Train Station (approximately a 30-minute drive) to catch a morning train to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu.

Once in Aguas Calientes, check in at your hotel and take some time to relax, freshen up, and enjoy a light lunch before your afternoon visit to Machu Picchu. The town offers many small cafes and restaurants with local and international dishes to choose from.

After lunch (not included), take the shuttle bus from Aguas Calientes up to the Machu Picchu citadel. The bus ride takes about 25 minutes, and as you ascend, you’ll get your first glimpses of the breathtaking mountains surrounding this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Upon arrival, meet your guide for an afternoon tour of Machu Picchu, one of the most iconic archaeological sites in the world. Your guide will take you through the key areas of the ancient city.

Enjoy the serenity of visiting Machu Picchu in the afternoon, when the crowds have thinned, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the peaceful atmosphere of this sacred site.

After exploring Machu Picchu, take the shuttle bus back down to Aguas Calientes. The late afternoon and evening are yours to explore the town at your leisure. Aguas Calientes has a charming, laid-back atmosphere, with markets offering local crafts and plenty of dining options. You might want to indulge in a relaxing dinner at a local restaurant (not included).

Stay overnight in Aguas Calientes, where you can rest after an unforgettable day of exploration. Many hotels offer views of the surrounding mountains and the sound of the river, making for a peaceful night’s sleep.

Day 6: Optional hike to Huaynapicchu Mountain or second visit to Machu Picchu and return to Cusco

Start your day early in Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. After a hearty breakfast, we will catch one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu to ensure you have plenty of time to explore this iconic site before it gets crowded. Upon arrival, take a moment to admire the breathtaking views of the ancient citadel surrounded by misty mountains.

For those seeking a bit more adventure, an optional hike to Huayna Picchu Mountain is available. This challenging yet rewarding trek offers unparalleled panoramic views of Machu Picchu from above. The hike takes about 2 to 3 hours round-trip and includes steep climbs, but the stunning vistas make it well worth the effort.

After your hike, head back down to Aguas Calientes for a quick lunch (not included) before catching your train. Board the train from Aguas Calientes to Poroy, the nearest train station to Cusco, once you arrive in Poroy, you will board a private vehicle for the final leg of your journey to Cusco. The drive takes approximately 30 minutes.

Note: On this day, if you are not visiting Machu Picchu for a second time or hiking Huayna Picchu Mountain, we will head directly back to Poroy and then on to Cusco.
